Ryobi 1600 PSI Pressure Washer Review: Cleaning a Home Like Never Before

We immediately agreed when Ryobi reached out to us and asked if we wanted to put their Ryobi 1600 psi pressure washer review through its paces. We were excited at the prospect of finally tackling the exterior of our home like never before. But how would it work?

Would it be better than a regular hose with a nozzle attached? What about cleaning off our deck or driveway – could this Ryobi 1,600 PSI 1.2 GPM Electric Pressure Washer handle that too? We had many questions, and Ryobi’s team was happy to answer them all!

Ryobi is a 40-year-old Japanese company that started as a die-casting firm. In 1999, they were bought by Hong Kong-based TTI ( Techtronic Industries Co. Ltd.), the OEM supplying them with many cordless tools for some two decades. An OEM, or “original equipment manufacturer,” is a firm that makes goods bearing another brand’s name.

Ryobi has always been about making quality tools at an affordable price point, and they continue this tradition today. With products like the One+ 18v system, which includes over 50 tools, Ryobi provides homeowners with everything they need to complete any DIY project around the house.

Our Reviewer's Experience

Our reviewer was excited to try this electric pressure washer. She noticed
parts of her deck were starting to rot and knew that a good cleaning would help. She quickly removed years of dirt, grime, mildew, and moss from her deck and railings. It only took a few minutes to get the job done, and she was thrilled with how it turned out!

While this Ryobi 1600 psi pressure washer review is very positive, the 25-foot hose isn’t as long as it could be. It’s great for smaller homes but not ideal for large properties. Our reviewer also noted that the turbo setting did a good job removing tough dirt and grime, but it’s not the best for overhead work.

FAQs

Does RY141612 damage paint and finishes?

The high-pressure nozzle blasts away paint and many coatings. I used it on an old painted wooden staircase; the paint came off rather quickly. A metal stand with a powder-coated finish was unaffected by it.

The distance you are from the item makes a significant variation. If you’re using the 15-degree nozzle, start there and only move to the high-pressure if necessary.

How many settings does RY141612 have?

The pressure washer has just one knob and three different nozzles, with each providing a distinct pressure.

You can adjust the sprayer’s pressure by selecting the proper nozzle (low pressure for soap, high-pressure 15-degree for most applications, turbo nozzle for stubborn dirt) and moving closer or further away from your object as needed.

Is 1600 PSI good for a pressure washer?

Yes, 1600 PSI is a good pressure for a pressure washer. Anything above that might be too much pressure for some surfaces.

For example, if you are using a pressure washer on your car, you don’t want to use too high of a setting because it could damage the paint. But if you are using it to clean your driveway or sidewalk, then 1600 psi should be plenty of power.

Why is my Ryobi pressure washer surging?

It becomes clogged when the water can’t support your pressure washer’s pump flow rate. It puts an excessive strain on the engine and may cause it to overheat or even burn out.

If you want to know how well your pressure washer works, take it to a professional for an inspection.
