Pressure washer soaps are formulated with unique formulas designed to create thick suds upon mixing high-pressure and high-flow water, which regular soaps can’t.

I’ll explain later how, but for now, take the experts’ words, you need to pick the best pressure washer soap with the best pressure washer for your needs to get the desired results.

Difference between detergent and soap

Till now, you’ve probably used the terms’ soap’ and ‘detergent’ as interchange ones, but what if I told you there are differences between them?

The difference is in their manufacturing process and, ultimately, the purpose they serve.

They both are meant to clean surfaces, but detergents usually go harsher on the dirt than soaps, which is necessary to get rid of stubborn dirt.

Firstly,

Soaps are primarily biodegradable, as they’re manufactured from natural substances.

Plant oils (coconut, vegetable, palm, pine), animal fat, etc., and salt are processed down to fatty acids and glycerin. Then, ultimately, the final soap is extracted from that. Then, fragrance, color, etc., are added to that later.

Soaps are great for cleaning grease and oily dirt. But, unfortunately, they’re not the best for harsh cleaning and purification.

Also, soaps can’t be used with hard water, forming scum.

Whereas,

Detergents are manufactured from synthetic chemicals. Unfortunately, those are primarily artificial chemicals, all of which have their purpose. But that also makes them non-biodegradable.

Detergents are harder on the subject, and they’re better for deep cleanings for purification, like cleaning mold and mildew.

Also, detergents can be used with any water, saving the day.

When to use soap and when to use detergent pressure washing?

Soaps are the best solution when just cleaning the greasy and oily dirt off various surfaces. However, consider using detergents when purifying surfaces and getting rid of mold, mildew, etc.

Best Pressure Washer Soap Buying Guide

Soaps aren’t the most complex substance; thus, buying the best soap might seem relatively straightforward. But there are tricky aspects which, if you’re unaware of, you might fool yourself and purchase the wrong soap for a given purpose.

Let me guide you through how you can pick the best pressure washer detergent for your specific needs.

Purpose

Different soaps are created with other purposes in mind. For example, soaps meant to clean plastic surfaces are not made to go as hard on the surface as a soap that cleans concrete or asphalt would do.

Soaps are created with slightly different formulas to clean a particular surface better than others.

There are usually four main categories of soaps:

  1. Car soaps are meant to be gentle on your car’s paint and coatings yet clean well.
  2. Soaps for plastic, for the vinyl siding of your home.
  3. Soaps for concrete, stone, or brick remove the oldest stain on your driveways or paths.
  4. Multi-purpose soaps are meant to sit in a sweet spot between these three and be decent on all the surfaces.

For a general thought, you might think multi-purpose is the best solution considering lesser hassle and cost-effectiveness. Still, the results might not always satisfy your expectation.

Owning purpose-specific soaps is the best solution if you care about the quality of cleaning. They might seem like a significant upfront investment, but think like this –

● You don’t need to buy all the specialized soaps at once. You can buy at intervals depending on what you’ll clean next weekend.

● Your driveways, vehicle, glass surfaces, etc., are not going away and neither staying permanently clean after one wash. You’ll have to keep washing them regularly, so you’ll utilize the specialized soaps fully at some point.

You can already tell what my recommendation is regarding this aspect.

However, I’m not saying that multi-purposes are no good. On the contrary, if you have logic that trumps the above, I’m sure multi-purpose might be an excellent option.

Suds

Suds are the key to effective and excellent cleaning. The lathe is crucial to a successful wash because the bubbles grab and carry the dirt away from your surface.

The thicker and richer suds your soap will create, the better cleaning you can expect. Suds are one of the primary reasons regular soaps are not a good fit for pressure washers. They can barely create any suds mixing with high-pressure water.

You want to dig into other users’ words here to learn how much and how rich suds a soap will create.

Additives

Some soap offers a little extra, which is always overwhelming and appreciated. However, it’s mostly true for unique purpose soaps.

You’ll find that some car wash soaps leave a protective wax coating when rinsed off. It enhances the shine of your car and lengthens the time before the next wash is due.

That’s always a bonus when you find additional advantages such as this. However, remember that those soaps should not be used for other purposes like concrete cleaning, as you probably don’t want a wax coating on your driveway.

Concentrated or Diluted Formula

It comes down to money versus convenience.

Concentrated formulas are pretty budget-friendly. For example, one gallon of concentrated soap could make up to 20 gallons of usable solution to cost-per-wash settles down at a minimal number.

However, you must mix the soap with water correctly before every wash. Also, your pressure washer needs a soap compartment or mechanism to pull the solution from an external bucket. Or you could remove the hassle by getting a foam cannon.

On the other hand, diluted formulas allow convenience and freedom, but the cost-per-wash is relatively higher than concentrated formulas.

They come in ready-to-use packs, so mixing water with them is no hassle.

Also, they come in a container that connects directly with your pressure washer with an adapter. So you don’t have to go through the hassle of managing a separate soap container or buying a foam cannon.

On top of that, you have the freedom to switch to another soap or brand quite frequently as they’ll finish up quite soon, unlike concentrated formulas.

All this comes at the cost of more cost-per-wash than concentrated formulas.

My recommendation?

For general scenarios, get a concentrated formula as they’re way more economical than diluted ones and the hassles are no hassles.

Pet and Eco-Friendly

We don’t want to hurt our precious animal belongings while cleaning or our mother nature. So, it’ll be highly appreciated if you get a pet and eco-friendly solution.

The good news is that most soaps are biodegradable by default and not harmful to pets.

However, if you have to buy detergents, properly channel the leftover keeping these concerns in mind.

Best Pressure Washer Detergent Reviews

Here I will review some of the best pressure washer detergent and soap products on the market.

Best All-Purpose Detergent:
Karcher Multi-Purpose Soap

Last update on 2022-07-03 / Affiliate links / Images from Amazon Product Advertising API

We have the Karcher multi-purpose detergent soap, a favorite among pressure washer owners. It’s a true multi-purpose soap and offers a dedicated vehicle wash soap if you want it.

You’re getting two size options which makes it a good choice for domestic and professional use, depending on your frequency of cleaning. This 1-liter concentrated soap will make up to 20 gallons of solution.

This solution will clean up your decks, sidewalks, driveways, garden furniture, and whatnot since it’s a multi-purpose soap. Even with your pool cleaner, you can use it to get back the sleek and shiny look.

Paired with a good power washer ensures thorough cleaning, which doesn’t take up your time. As a result, the jobs are done faster, and the surfaces look cleaner with this than your average soap.

That said, it takes a little bit more time when paired with a tad less powerful pressure washers. So you’ll need to leave this a little longer on the surface to clean when sprayed with lesser power.

Gas-powered pressure washers are the best pair, while a tad less powerful electric pressures will be acceptable.

It’s a biodegradable soap making it not harmful to the environment. However, there’s a slight odor that not everyone notices.

Pros

● Provides a professional clean

● Leaves surface shiny

● Easy to apply and clean

Cons

● Not the best pair for less powerful washers.

Best car wash soap and cleanser:
Chemical Guys CWS 110 Soap

Last update on 2022-07-03 / Affiliate links / Images from Amazon Product Advertising API

Chemical Guys are one of the detergent manufacturing industry’s most heard and trusted names.

They make a few of the best soaps and detergents. For example, their honeydew detergent takes up our best pressure washer detergent for the car wash.

We can’t go wrong with this soap when we talk about making cars shiny. It cleans deep and thoroughly, is efficient, and needs less for every wash. As a result, it costs less than many flagship soaps and ensures an excellent value.

It’s a highly concentrated soap. One capful of this soap will dilute into five gallons of water to get the ultimate scrubbing power.

This particular soap creates a lot of suds thanks to chemical guys’ unique PPM (Parts Per Million) formula.

It’s best used on paint, rubber, vinyl, glass, and plastic surfaces, making it the perfect match for every vehicle corner. In addition, it’s pH neutral, so it won’t harm any waxing and sealant that might already exist in your car.

Two charming flavors are available – Honeydew and watermelon. I liked that both the flavors are pretty subtle, so anyone who might not enjoy them will have to fight the fragrance.

Pros

● A lot of suds with lesser amounts of soap.

● Not harmful to any protective coating or other parts.

● Competitively priced

Cons

● Slips off the cars a tad faster than usual.

Best House, Deck, and Concrete cleaner Detergent soap:

Sun Joe SPX-HDC1G

Last update on 2022-07-02 / Affiliate links / Images from Amazon Product Advertising API

The Sun Joe HDC1G mainly aims to deep clean concrete surfaces around the house to get off those stains, grease, oil, mold, etc. Garage floors will look cleaner than ever, and so are other concrete surfaces around the house.

It’s biodegradable and boasts a bleach-free and non-toxic formula simultaneously, so you won’t harm plants and grass while working around the green.

It’s universal to all pressure washers, though it does not utilize the extra boost that powerful pressure washers provide. And it offers versatility in applications to use not only with powerful pressure washers but also with mops and brushes.

Add ½ gallon of this highly concentrated soap with five-gallon of water when you’re dealing with less stubborn stuff, and you want to ensure efficiency, so nothing goes to waste. But you want to double that and make the ratio 1:5 when the dirt or grime doesn’t get away.

Pros

● Works great on concrete surfaces.

● Versatility in the application.

● Non-toxic and safe for plants.

Cons

● Does not clean well with really high-pressure water flow.

Best Boat, Car, Motorcycle or RV Vehicle Soap for pressure washer:
Karcher Car Wash & Wax Soap

Last update on 2022-07-03 / Affiliate links / Images from Amazon Product Advertising API

Karcher multi-purpose made it the best all-purpose detergent, and the vehicle wash version is all set to catch up. It’s a great vehicle wash detergent because it cleans them and protects them from getting dirty again.

When you rinse the soap off the vehicle, it leaves a thin layer of wax. It prevents dirt from building up again soon. And you can allow yourself to procrastinate a little in between full-fledged waxing.

On top of that, the shine and sparkle it leaves on your vehicle are impeccable.

It comes in two bottle sizes: 1 quart (32 fl oz) or 1 gallon (128 fl oz). The quart bottle is smartly designed as it helps with correct pouring. You can pour freehand like other times or through a super precise pouring mechanism with volume labels.

So, diluting with the proper measurement and ratio no longer seems like a task.

It is concentrated as standard so that you can prepare up to 5 gallons of solution from 32 fl oz and up to 20 gallons from 128 fl oz or 1-gallon bottle.

Pros

● Leaves spark and shine on the vehicle.

● Adds a protective layer of wax.

● Helps with exact measurement for proper dilution.

Cons

● There’s wax, so you can’t use it for other purposes.

Best outdoor pressure washer cleaner:
Simple Green Oxy Solve Total

Last update on 2022-07-02 / Affiliate links / Images from Amazon Product Advertising API

Simple Green offers a range of specialized cleaners for outdoor scenarios. Still, the Oxy Solve Total is the go-to option since it works amazingly well on various surfaces, including wood, vinyl, composite, fabric, metal, plastic, concrete, stone, wicker, brick, and asphalt.

So, nothing around your home is out of its range. It uses the power of peroxide to lift stains, dirt, and grime quickly and without harsh chemicals.

The fast-acting foam will show off the cleaning right before your eyes as you spray, resulting in brightened surfaces.

It works equally well with various pressure washers, from gas to electric. The lack of harsh chemicals makes it safe for the environment. At the same time, the orally non-toxic formula ensures your pet or any other animal will not be harmed by it.

It’s a little more concentrated than average soaps and will make up to 21 gallons of the solution with 1 gallon of soap, so that’s an extra. On top of that, you need less volume of solution to clean a particular area than you need with many other soaps.

That makes it highly economical while it already costs a few bucks less than standards, and one 1-gallon bottle is going to last you forever.

Pros

● Non-toxic formula, water, and landscape safe.

● Cleans with peroxide and avoids harsh & damaging chemicals.

● Economical.

Cons

●The product has a subtle odor as a few days pass.

Best Detergent for House & Siding #1: Krud Kutter HS01 Green

Specialized soaps for house and siding? Here’s our #1 pick, the Krud Kutter HS01 Green.

Ever heard the term “SPOREX”? Neither did I until I was introduced to the Krud Kutter Green. Krud Kutter says it’s a unique additive that removes tough stains from mildew, mold, algae, fungus, and moss.

I’m not sure of those terminologies, but I can say that it leaves the surface completely clean in real-life performance.

The special surfactants it features penetrate the surface thoroughly and dissolve the toughest stains from oil grease, bird droppings, acid rain, tree sap, and whatnot.

Spray the solution, and you can even eliminate gray weathering on wood, chalking, and oxidation. That’s actual coverage for soap when it comes down to home and siding.

It leaves up to the claim of being a highly specialized and effective soap for house and siding. However, it might seem pricey to wash with this soap since 1 gallon of it takes only 10 gallons of solution. In contrast, others make up to 20, but it was made this way as less concentrated, and thus it costs half as those costs.

Pros

● Dissolves toughest of stains.

● Removes gray weathering.

● Strong overall house and siding soap.

Cons

● Mild odor.

Best Detergent for House & Siding #2: Zep All-in-1 Concentrate

Last update on 2022-07-03 / Affiliate links / Images from Amazon Product Advertising API

Got a lot of concrete and cement-made surfaces around your house

need a deep cleaning? Probably your best bet is to get the Zep All-in-1 concentrate.

Though Zep says it’s an all-in-1 solution, I thought they better have marketed it as one of the best solutions to deep clean the concrete surfaces around your house and siding.

It dissolves any stubborn dir easily, and there’ll be no leftover. No stain from mold, algae, and other things would even think to stay after you’ve cleaned those with the Zep blue concentrated soap.

However, Zep does a decent job cleaning some other surfaces, including cars and other vehicles. So it ain’t’ necessary that you have to get this only to clean your concrete surfaces. But I believe it’s best used for that.

Pros

● Cleans concrete surfaces well.

● Completely removes any stains.

● Dissolves the most stubborn build-up on concretes.

Cons

● Not highly concentrated.

Best Detergent for House & Siding #3: KrudKutter DF01 Blue

Last update on 2022-07-02 / Affiliate links / Images from Amazon Product Advertising API

One of the essential parts of your house and siding is the decks and other wood surfaces. The KrudKutter DF01 blue could be one of your top choices when it comes to keeping them clean and new.

The Blue would be my choice if I had to pick one name for the best deck and fence cleaning pressure washer detergent. Unfortunately, there are not many specialized soaps manufactured to clean wood surfaces.

All-purpose and other cleaners clean the wood surfaces quite well, but many eat the juice out of the wood.

Since woods are sensitive and natural materials, they don’t hold up great against harsh chemical-made detergents meant to clean rigid surfaces like concrete.

When you’re about to give up on your fence since it’s too torn and dirty, a deep wash with this soap could bring life and shine back into it and change your mind. It cleans any build-up and removes the stains from wood and composite surfaces without going too harsh on it.

It’s a water-based formula that’s mild, non-toxic, non-abrasive, and non-flammable. One gallon of the soap will make up to 12 gallons of solution, so it’s not the most concentrated soap.

Pros

● Cleans wood and composite surfaces well.

● Does not hurt the surface.

● Water-based mild formula, non-toxic.

Cons

● Only for wood and composite materials

Best Detergent for House & Siding #4: Briggs & Stratton 6826

Last update on 2022-07-03 / Affiliate links / Images from Amazon Product Advertising API

The best pressure washer soap list will go incomplete if there’s no Briggs and Stratton-made product. There are many fans of this company that would swear by its name.

Here we have the Briggs and Stratton 6826, a strong detergent that deep cleans any surface around the house.

That said, you might want to pass on delicate wood or similar surfaces because it’s a solid chemical-based detergent.

When the old and stubborn build-up is the problem, a strong soap like this is the solution.

It kills mildew and gets rid of mold, algae, and whatnot. After you clean a surface with this soap, you can be assured that there’ll be no stains. When you are not getting the desired result with other soaps, that’s when you want to try this one.

With the intense cleaning, the formula is concerned that it’s not the most eco-friendly soap. So you want to watch out for how you dispose of it. Also, keep your pets and child away while you’re cleaning.

One gallon of soap would make 16 gallons of solutions following the standard dilution ratio. It would be best if you do not make it thinner, considering it’ll reduce its strength.

Pros

● Strong soap.

● Deep cleans any surface.

● Completely remove any stubborn build-up and stains from it.

Cons

● Not very eco-friendly

Two Great Pressure Washers for Dispensing these Soaps

Since you’re looking for the best pressure washer detergent, I assume you already own your rig. For an exception, here are two great models in electric and gas variants that would do excellent cleaning when paired with these soaps –

Electric pressure washer for detergent: AR Annovi Reverberi AR390SS Electric Pressure Washer

Last update on 2022-07-03 / Affiliate links / Images from Amazon Product Advertising API

Annovi Reverberi is a world-class Italian brand known for manufacturing beautiful-looking functional machines. AR390SS is one of their flagships and best-selling electric pressure washers; we’ll see why.

There’s barely any match to this rig when we’re talking about medium-duty jobs around the household.

You can get away with tasks that need heavier pressure, but that’ll not be as comfortable as regular ones.

It boasts a universal 120V 60Hz motor that can produce a maximum water pressure of 2000 PSI with a 1.4 GPM maximum flow rate. The numbers are impressive for medium-duty electric water pressure, and getting day-to-day jobs won’t be an issue.

It’s a beautiful-looking machine that’ll enhance your mood while you work. It’s a piece of cake to operate this:

  • Plug the water inlet.
  • Insert the hose.
  • Connect the trigger gun to get started in under 3 minutes.

Water shortage is an issue globally, and it’ll flow against that. It’ll save up to 80% of the water you need with a standard garden hose.

The package includes a 30-foot high-pressure hose at least 10 feet longer than standard hoses with other pressure washers. So you can save a few bucks there without buying an extension hose.

What makes it great for detergent washing is a 48 oz detergent tank integrated with it which not all other washers feature. So keep your solution in there and spray it with convenience.

Further added is the low-pressure soap dispenser nozzle that helps spray the solution. The other three included nozzles are a 25-degree nozzle tip, 0 degrees, and a rotary/Turbo nozzle.

Pros

● Saves a lot of water.

● Ideal for dispensing soap at high pressure.

● The convenience of usage.

● Additional accessories are included.

Cons

● Lots of plastic parts have been used that are not sturdy.

Gas pressure washer for detergent: Simpson Cleaning MSH3125 MegaShot

Last update on 2022-07-03 / Affiliate links / Images from Amazon Product Advertising API

Suppose your gas pressure washer is as beautiful as the electric one above. In that case, you’ll be disheartened because the Simpson Megashot MSH3125 looks like a ripped-apart car engine.

In terms of functionality, it’s entirely the opposite of ugly. Who buys a pressure washer solely for looks anyway?

The first thing you’ll love about this rig is that you won’t have to pull the cord more than once to fire this up. The ripcord is not too stiff to strain your shoulder muscles and not too loose to require multiple attempts.

Ease of use must be one of this machine’s most beautiful things.

That said, it’s easy on your ears too. It’s powered by the GC190, a bit quieter than other powerful Honda engines used in pressure washers. In addition, the sound is a little more muffled and thus more accessible to the ears.

But that does not mean it’ll sacrifice power. On the contrary, it pelts out around 3100 psi of pressure. In terms of household work, it’s ample power. I’d say it punches above its weight, considering its footprint.

The pump will get you through the years without hiccups.

You might need to clean surfaces (like cars) that are recommended to be washed below 3000 psi of pressure. Of course, you can always use the 20 or 40-degree spray tip attachment to increase the spray area and thus reduce the pressure.

It’s an easily portable machine with a small footprint and easy pneumatic wheels. The frames are sturdy steel, as are the lance and other areas. So I’d say it’s a machine for the long race except for the axial pump that tends to die out after a couple of years.

However, it might not be a deal-breaker since you can repair them for a nominal cost, and such issues are expected to be there for a mid-range pressure washer.

What can be arguable is recommending this rig for washing around since it does not have any onboard soap tank. However, it ticks so many other boxes, and you can always use a hose to pull the soap, so it got my recommendation.

Pros

● It starts up with 1 or 2 pulls

● Powerful engine

● Pneumatic wheels make it easy to move the washer

● Durable

Cons

● No onboard soap tank

● Awkwardly placed water connectors

How does a pressure washer work with Soap Dispenser, Injector, or Foam cannon

Why is it always said that you shouldn’t use regular soaps with pressure washers? Simply because regular soaps are not designed to create thick suds when blasted through a pressure washer.

If you want to understand things better, you should first know how a pressure washer intakes soap in the first place. Multiple mechanisms are there:

Built-in Soap Dispenser

If you’re using a domestic grade pressure washer, the chances are that it features a built-in soap dispenser. That means there’ll be a special compartment in your machine where you have to pour your diluted solution into.

It’ll pull the in siphon mechanism and mix that with high-pressure water to spray thick foam.

In a few cases, the soapy solution passes through the pump. For those scenarios, if the soap is meant to be used with a pressure washer, it might cause problems for the pump and reduce its lifespan.

Soap Injector

The mechanism is always the same, which is a siphon, except that there won’t be any built-in soap compartment in the rig this time. So instead, you have to fill an external bucket with a soapy solution and insert the injector tube that’s coming out of the pressure washer.

The pump will pull the solution through that injector tube and mix it with water to create and blast suds.

External Soap Dispenser – Cannon

If you don’t know what foam cannons are, you should check out our guide on the best foam cannons and best foam cannon soaps.

In brief, foam cannons are an attachment that connects to the pressure washer wand and contains the soapy solution. The soapy solution does not have to go through the pump with a foam cannon.

Instead, when the water is about to leave the wand, there’s the cannon attached. A siphon mechanism pulls the soapy solution, and suds are created before the water leaves the pressure washer.

Foam cannons could be a go-to choice since they have their mechanism to control and enhance the quality of suds and a few other things.

Residential Vs. Professional Pressure Washer Detergent

You might have noticed that I’ve used terms like professional-grade, domestic-grade, etc., a few times. You might want to scream at my face: Cleaning is cleaning; what’s the Difference?

There aren’t many, but not zero. When we talk about pressure washers, the Difference between domestic-grade and professional-grade models is entirely revealed by their appearance. What about the cleaning solution?

When you buy a gallon of soap, that might seem a lot to you but not to professionals. How much per gallon costs might not concern you much as you need one gallon only, but it does concern the professionals since they need much more.

Thus, they buy the chemicals used to create these concentrated soaps and mix them with their expertise to form the final soap. This way, they have much control over how strong or mild they want the soap to be, depending on what they’re going to clean.

They also save quite some money in this way.

For us, the soaps come premixed, so we don’t have such freedom. We either have to buy a strong one for concrete or mild for wood, or an all-purpose one that sits in the middle.

Common Types of Chemicals Used in Soap

Sanitizing solutions will have a different configuration than a cleaner meant to remove rust and stains. Here are the standard and significant chemicals that create each of those formulas:

Vinegar – Great for cleaning countertops, windows, etc. Polishing the surface neutralizes odors and is safe to use on most surfaces.

Citric Acid –Mostly used in robust solutions to clean concrete driveways and remove stains.

Oxalic Acid – Removes rust.

Sodium Hypochlorite – A powerful disinfectant, it also removes stains.

Sodium Hydroxide – Dissolves grease and fats. Degreasers steel and glass.

Bleach – A combination of sodium hypochlorite and sodium hydroxide that acts as an aggressive sanitizer and disinfectant and eats through fat.

Ammonia – Brings back the shine to glasses and stainless steel.

Potassium Hydroxide – Makes soft and liquid soap.

Though a soap will have labels regarding what it’s meant to clean, you can look at the ingredients and already tell if it’ll do the job well that you’re thinking of getting done with it.

Best Pressure Washer Soap - Wrap Up

Seeing your vehicle, yard, and home clean and shining is beautiful. A pressure washer is a heart of keeping the household clean, but sometimes only water won’t get the job done.

You need to equip your cleaning rig with the best pressure washer detergent for cleaning excellence and enjoy the results.

You probably have already found your winner of detergent, and it’s time to start cleaning.

FAQs

How do you know your pressure washer soap is biodegradable?

Most pressure washer soaps have a label that says they are biodegradable.

The Detergent Manufacturer’s Association (DMA) has a certification program for biodegradability, which is based on the ASTM Standard D6400. Soaps that pass this certification will carry the “DMA Certified Biodegradable” logo.

How do I know if my pressure washer is low on the soap?

If you’re noticing that your pressure washer is producing fewer suds or that the suds are getting thinner, then it’s likely time to add more soap or detergent.

A lack of soap will reduce the machine’s ability to produce adequate cleaning power. So make sure to keep an eye on the amount of suds produced and add more soap/detergent as needed.

How do I add soap/detergent to my pressure washer?

Adding soap or detergent to your pressure washer is a great way to get tougher cleaning jobs done more effectively. Most pressure washers have a dispenser that you can fill with soap/detergent, which will then be automatically mixed with the water as it’s being sprayed.

However, it’s important to ensure that you’re using the right soap/detergent for your specific machine to avoid damaging it. Be sure to consult your pressure washer’s manual for guidance on what detergent to use.

Can you use laundry detergent in a pressure washer?

You shouldn’t. Laundry detergents are meant to clean clothes. They’re not formulated to create thick suds quickly upon mixing with high-pressure and high-flow water.

You’ll not get your expected result and might end up harming your washer.

What is the best detergent to use in a pressure washer?

It depends on the type of cleaning you want to get done. For all the houses, get an all-purpose like the Karcher multi-purpose. For outdoor, consider getting the Oxy to solve the total. For concrete surfaces, nothing will beat the Zep concrete cleaner.

All the detergents that solve different domestic purposes best are already reviewed here; you can’t go wrong on any of them.

What types of detergent or soap to use in a pressure washer?

Soaps that are formulated to use in pressure washers, especially those types.

How do I make my pressure washer detergent?

You’ll find a few DIY formulas here and there to produce pressure washer soap yourself, but I can’t recommend any of them. So why do you want to have the soap by yourself in the first place?

Cost-saving? These articles on DIY soaps can be sugar-coated and misguiding. When you gather all the chemicals to produce soap, you will not save much money or time.

You care about the environment, and that’s why? Great, there are soaps already that are not harming the environment.

Finally, you might be unable to put in the perfect ratios and formulas in your DIY “LAB.” That creates a solution that’ll frustrate you with the results and might hard your expensive pressure washer.

Do you still think it’s worth it?

Can You Use Regular Car Wash Soap in a Pressure Washer?

NO. Pressure washer soaps are formulated differently if you haven’t heard that from me a thousand times. So DO NOT use any other soap in pressure washers other than that’s meant to be.

Can dishwashing soap be used in a pressure washer?

You shouldn’t use dishwashing soaps, ESPECIALLY.

Dishwashing soaps are meant to be used with warm water, whereas pressure washers operate with cold water.

Also, dishwashing soaps can be extremely harsh on your car’s paint and other components and might create damages that’ll need a fat stack of cash to repair.

You’ll not save money by using your dishwashing soap. Instead, you might end up spending a lot more.
